Trusting Your Intuition to Build a Fulfilling Business

I recorded myself at 7:45 on a Saturday morning, on a walk, because I couldn't not.

There's a point on my usual route where I nearly always have to turn back because of schedules, timings, logistics, and all the small negotiations that fill up a typical week. But this was Saturday, and I had no reason to turn back. And when I reached that point, I did something I never do.

I turned around. And then I turned around again. Then I came to the part of the path where it splits into the way I always go, and the other way I never do.

And for some reason, something inside of me told me to take the alternative. Even as I started down it, my inner voice piped up: should I go back to the path I know? But I kept walking.

A little way down that path, I saw a deer, lying in the grass. She wasn't startled, and she didn't bolt away. She was just resting, close enough that I stopped where I stood. She looked at me. I looked at her. Neither of us moved for a moment.

I looked up what it meant straight away. A deer is intuition, gentleness, the quiet confidence to follow your own path — and a deer at rest, unafraid, is about trust and feeling safe enough to stop running and be still. It was everything I'd been thinking and feeling all week, wrapped into one moment on a path I hadn't planned to take.

I know that when I tell you this, it might sound like I've exaggerated or dressed it up for the internet, but I promise you I haven't. It happened exactly like that. You can see the exact moment my little friend inspired me here.

What the walk taught me about trusting myself

This moment undid me a little.

Over the last year especially, I've been learning to trust my intuition and actually listen to myself. It's brought up so many feelings, lessons, and insights I didn't expect. And that path this morning was the whole lesson in miniature. I didn't turn back when the logistics-brain told me to. I went the way I don't normally go. I ignored the voice that wanted the familiar route. And what was waiting there was exactly what I needed.

If there's a point to this story, it's this: please listen to your deepest knowing.

Listen to your instinctive wants, your desires, your goals. Don't let fear drown them out and certainly don't let your limiting beliefs play them small. You deserve everything you want your business to create for you.

Because on the other side of that knowing are opportunities you can't yet see. Every time I've listened to my future self — every time I've been brave and decided to go with her — it's unlocked something I couldn't have planned. And every time I've listened to fear instead, made myself small, taken the path I already knew, it's led me further from what I actually want.

Your intuition is how you build a fulfilling business

The knowing is only half of it. The other half is you. Your intuition shows you the path, but you are the catalyst who takes it. The sign, the pull, the deeper knowing — none of it moves your life an inch until you decide to go.

You don't build a fulfilling business by out-planning your fear. You build it by listening to what you already know you want and then being brave enough to go and create it.

So, this is your reminder, from me, on my morning walk. Listen to your knowing. Then be the catalyst who acts on it.
