The Truth About Being an Ambitious Mum in Business

Here is something I want you to really hear today. You are allowed to be an ambitious woman building a wildly successful business and you are allowed to be a Mum. You don’t have to choose one or the other. You can do both at the same time, fully.

I say this because the world has long told women, especially mothers, that ambition comes with conditions. That if you want to be taken seriously in business, you need to constantly show up looking like you have everything polished, scheduled, and perfect.

But that message needs to stop.

Buggies & Business Are Welcome Here

Last week on a call inside the Ambitious Mums Mastermind, we had children home sick from school (after half term . . . yes, really 🙃), babies waking mid-nap, and Mums dialling in from their offices because it was a work day and they were showing up regardless.

And do you know what? The ambition, the effort, and the messy middle are what counted the most.

So many Mums are made to feel that having their children nearby or their schedule shifting is an inconvenience or something to apologise for, but in my world, that's the furthest thing from the truth.

Being a Mum is not a part-time role that switches off the moment your laptop opens. You have already lived a thousand lives before 9am through the school run, the packed lunches, the emotional regulation, the planning, and the love. And then you show up in your business. That is extraordinary.

Four of our masterminders are launching this month in ways they have never launched before. They’re showing up boldly and bravely, sharing their expertise with more confidence than ever before because they finally have a space where they are celebrated as a whole person, not just a business owner.

Never underestimate the power of being surrounded by women who truly get it. When you see what is possible for others just like you, your brain cannot unsee it.

Your Business Should Not Consume You

I love my work, and I genuinely love spending my days mentoring ambitious Mums to build their businesses and create lives they are proud of. But I would be a complete hypocrite if I did not also protect my own time, energy, and joy.

Your business should not become another demand on your life.

Your clients, your lifestyle, and your offers should be built to support you. Your business shouldn’t require everything you have got, every single day.

This year, I am taking two work days off to go away without mentoring or mum duties. I’m taking this trip as Sam. And yes, we have already had three family holidays this year, and I adore those. But this is different. This is a reminder that I matter in the equation, too.

Two work days does not sound enormous on paper. But when you factor in being away from your baby, the planning, and the emotional weight of it, it is significant. And it represents exactly what I teach:

  • Huge success

  • Huge memories

  • Travel

  • Balance

  • Family adventures

  • Time with friends

  • Time for yourself

  • All of it.

I run my business with diligence and care. I raise my daughter with my whole heart. I love my people as big as I can. And I look after myself with both daily movement and, once a year, some time that is just for me.

This is the model that I teach and live. And every one of my clients messaged me this week to say, “Have a wonderful time. Enjoy it. We will chat Monday.”

Building a Business as an Ambitious Mum

Your revenue, clients, and growth are important, but the bigger picture is building something that actually fits the life you are living with children and all of the beautiful chaos that comes with them…with you still at the centre of it.

In my world, you will always be fully supported and championed in your business, but also in your boundaries, your balance, and the life you are building. Because those things are not separate.

So to the Mum reading this who is spinning plates, showing up in her business, raising her children, and wondering if it is all a bit much… It counts. You count. And you do not have to choose.

A Very Special Birthday Invitation

To celebrate my birthday, I am doing something I have never done before. You can join The Ambitious Mums Club and get £1,000 off your entire year inside

This is a space built entirely around helping you create a wildly successful business that aligns with motherhood. This is where ambitious Mums come to grow with support, strategy, community, and a safe space to be every version of themselves.
