How to Create Your Distinctive Edge

If you’ve ever felt like you’re blending in, lost in a sea of competitors, or wondering why your ideal clients aren’t seeking you out, this is for you. Over the years, I’ve learned that the secret to building a lasting, magnetic business isn’t about shouting the loudest, looking perfect, or manufacturing a “wow” story. It’s about owning what makes you, you, and building your brand from there.
Here’s what I mean.
Relatable AND Aspirational
The most powerful brands strike a balance between two things:
Relatability: People see themselves in your story and feel connected.
Aspiration: They believe you can help them get to where they want to be.
I don’t wait until my hair is perfect or my house is spotless to show up. I want my audience to feel like, “She’s like me… but she’s living the life I’m working toward.” That’s what creates trust, connection, and a loyal following.
My 5-Part Framework for a Stand-Out Story
If you want to be unforgettable and highly sought after, your story matters. Here’s the simple structure I use:
Pivotal Moment – The catalyst that made you decide, “Something has to change.”
Transformation – What shifted for you (internally or externally).
Impact – How that transformation affected other areas of your life.
Mission – How this experience drives the work you do now.
Edge – The way you do it differently from everyone else.
This doesn’t need to be a dramatic “rags-to-riches” narrative, it just needs to be rooted in truth and aligned with what your audience needs to hear.
Values and Personality: The Overlooked Advantage
Your personality and values are part of your edge.
Favorite routines, hobbies, quirks. They’re small but memorable.
Clients often remember these details more than your credentials.
These little things make you top-of-mind and deeply relatable.
I’ve had clients hire me not just for my strategy, but because we share the same values, lifestyle goals, or approach to life.
Tell Your Story… Often
The biggest mistake I see? Only telling your story once.
Share it weekly, in emails, carousels, reels, lives, stories.
Change the hook, the format, or the angle, but keep telling it.
During a launch, share it at least twice.
You never know when the right person will hear it at the right time.
Build Your Edge, Scale with Strategy
When your business is rooted in who you are—your story, your values, your unique way of doing things—you’ll stand out without burning out. If you’re ready to refine your edge, grow your reach, and scale in a way that feels aligned and sustainable, I’d love to help you make it happen.
