The Power of Having a Podcast

I’ve always been a believer in showing up with purpose—and when I launched my podcast, I knew I wanted it to be more than just another platform. I wanted it to serve. I wanted it to connect. I wanted it to empower.

But I’ll be honest with you: podcasting can feel like a big step. Whether you’ve already got a show, you’re dreaming about launching one, or you’re not sure where to begin, there’s so much to unpack. That’s exactly why I recorded an entire episode breaking this down—practically, powerfully, and with some seriously golden insight.

Read on to hear about what I’ve learned and what I shared.

Not Everyone Needs a Podcast

Let’s get this out of the way: not everyone needs to start a podcast. There’s a lot of noise out there suggesting that it’s the next thing you “should” do. But here’s the truth: if you have genuine expertise, a message that matters, and a passion for building real connections—this could be the content engine that transforms your business. A podcast can be the most powerful way to share your energy, your voice, your truth—and truly build authority in your space.

A Podcast Is Not Just a Podcast

When I first started, I used to think of podcasting as a one-and-done kind of thing. Record an episode, upload it, done. But it’s so much more than that. An episode can become:

  • A blog

  • A series of social media posts

  • Reels or TikToks

  • A lead magnet

  • A conversation starter

  • A relationship builder

That 30-minute recording? It can fuel your content for the entire week if you’re intentional.

How to Start Without Overwhelm

I know how easy it is to get stuck in perfection mode—especially when you’re a high-achieving, heart-led woman. You don’t need a studio. You don’t need a fancy mic. You don’t need to hire a full team. You just need your voice, your story, and the willingness to hit record. And if you’re wondering what tools to use, there are amazing (and affordable!) platforms like Riverside.fm, Opus Clip, and Otter.ai that make the process smoother than you think.

What Kind of Podcast Format Should You Choose?

Solo episodes. Guest interviews. Panel-style chats. There’s no one-size-fits-all here. Personally, I love a mix. Solo episodes give me the chance to speak directly to my audience with topics I know will serve them. Guest interviews allow me to showcase brilliant minds and create masterclass-level conversations for my community. Whatever you choose—make it yours.

Don’t Just Publish—PROMOTE

This was a game-changer for me: 80% of the work isn’t in the recording—it’s in the promotion. Batch your content. Create trailers. Make it easy for your guests to share the episode. Repurpose, repurpose, repurpose. (Seriously, if I could bold that word three times, I would.) Your podcast has the potential to build your brand, attract aligned clients, and deepen your credibility. But it can only do that if people know it exists.

Define What Success Looks Like for You

Not every podcast needs to hit the Top 10. Not every podcast is going to get sponsorships. And not every podcast needs to be video-recorded in a Soho studio. What does your version of success look like?

  • More leads?

  • More authority?

  • A deeper connection with your community?

  • A creative outlet for your voice?

Define it. Own it. Build from there.

Consistency Is the Secret Sauce

One of the most underrated pieces of advice I’ve ever received: be consistent. Whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, or seasonal—stay consistent. That rhythm becomes a trust signal for your audience. They know when to expect you, and they’ll keep coming back.

If you’re ready to hear the full behind-the-scenes insight, plus strategies, tips, tools, and examples that will give you clarity and confidence, listen to the full podcast episode.

Let this be the nudge you needed. You don’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to have it all figured out. But if you’ve got a message and a mission—you’ve already got enough.
