When it comes to being a business owner, there is so much to learn. Whether it's the fundamentals, the backend basics, marketing, strategy, cash flow, etc., you can truly get lost. However, despite what you may know or want to learn, I want you to save this. These are the real, foundational things you need to understand if you're going to sustainably grow your business and make more intentional sales.

Read on for a few real life business tips.

1. Know the Difference: Cash Flow vs. Cash Injection

This is a game-changer once you get it:

  • Cash Flow = Your monthly recurring revenue (MRR). This is about stability. Predictability. Being able to forecast your income and have a foundation of consistent revenue coming into your business.

  • Cash Injection = A lump sum of money that serves a short-term purpose. Paying off a holiday? Renovating a kitchen? Want to invest in a mentor or mastermind? That’s a cash injection.

These are two different goals, and they need different strategies.

If you're pushing to grow your MRR, your activities and sales tactics should look totally different than if you're aiming for a quick injection. This is what I help my clients break down and refine every single day—like in a recent SHIFT membership call where we mapped out both revenue streams with intention.

Ask yourself:

  • What are your cash injection activities?

  • What are your recurring sales activities?

  • How are you supporting forecasting and sustainability in your business?

2. Not All Sales Strategies Are Equal—And That’s a Good Thing

Your weekly sales goal won’t always be the same. So why would your strategy be?

Let’s say:

  • One week, your goal is awareness → You might focus on low-ticket, lead-generating activities.

  • Another week, you’re closing a VIP day or high-ticket mastermind → That requires deeper, high-converting content, relationship-driven DMs, and more visibility.

So think about:

  • How are you tiering your activities?

  • How does your content, authority, and messaging support your sales goals?

  • What’s the end result you’re working toward this week?

Your output, energy, and actions need to be aligned with the conversion tier you’re targeting—whether it's lead gen or premium enrollment.

3. One Strategy Won’t Work Everywhere—And That’s Okay

You can’t rinse and repeat the same launch strategy across:

  • Every single month

  • Every single cohort

  • Every single offer

It’s just not effective.

Here’s what I mean: I had two mastermind calls recently where we dove into different strategies for:

  • Evergreen passive income offers

  • Low-ticket lead gen funnels

  • High-ticket call conversion sequences

  • Mid-level evergreen offers for consistent MRR

Your strategy needs to support your client journey and your business model. That means:

  • What’s the next logical step for your client?

  • How are you designing your offers and service suite to align with that?

  • Are you building a business that works for you, or are you constantly working in it?

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Yes, I need this”—I’ve got two ways to help you right now.
