5 Traits That Will Make Your Business Thrive (And 5 I Refuse to Ever Lean On)

In nearly a decade of coaching founders, I’ve noticed the same patterns: certain qualities consistently lead to breakthroughs, and certain tendencies quietly sabotage long-term success. Below are the 5 traits that have had the most DRAMATIC impact on my clients’ businesses in 2025. Are you practicing them (or resisting them)?

5 Traits That Help You Succeed

  1. You actually use the support you’ve invested in: Buying a course, program, or mentorship is one thing. But real growth happens when you show up. My most successful clients messaged me their questions, sent me their work for feedback, updated me on progress, brainstormed ideas, and then actually took action. They didn’t wait for clarity; they co-created it.

  2. You prioritise steady progress over frenetic hustle: This isn’t about working every hour or grinding nonstop. It’s about committing to a sustainable pace. The kind that creates momentum without burnout. Week by week, month by month, you move the needle.

  3. You take ownership of your success: Yes, I guide you. Yes, I support you. But YOU do the work. The people who get the farthest don’t wait for permission, approval, or perfect conditions. They act. They own their business, their mistakes, and their wins.

  4. You take initiative and follow your own curiosity: When inspiration hits, you don’t wait for a green light. You research. Experiment. Think for yourself. You treat me (your coach) as an amplifier, not a gatekeeper. The best ideas often come from within you. I’m just here to help you refine them.

  5. You’re not afraid to fail or be uncomfortable: Growth rarely comes from doing what we already know. Real transformation comes from leanings into uncertainty, trusting the journey, being patient, experimenting, learning. Every “failure” is just data. Every stretch builds resilience.

5 Traits That Will Not Help You Succeed

There are also things I refuse to do, not because they’re wrong, necessarily, but because they’re not aligned with how I believe business should be built.

  1. I’ve never broken a commitment, even when things got messy: Changing course? Sure. Scaling differently? Absolutely. But I don’t ghost agreements. I don’t abandon people mid-journey. Because integrity matters more than the quick win.

  2. I don’t judge others or their path: Everyone’s journey looks different. I teach from my place of genius, not from a pedestal. I’m not here to critique what works for someone else. I’m here to share what works for you.

  3. I don’t compromise my values for rapid growth: Scaling fast can be tempting. But if that means sacrificing honesty, depth, or the personalised connection I cherish with my clients. That’s not a trade I’m willing to make.

  4. I’m not here to show off my personal wins: My pride comes from my clients’ growth, not my own numbers. Their transformation, their voice, their success, that’s what makes this work feel meaningful.

  5. I never stop evolving and I refuse to play it small: I’ve taken risks, made mistakes, learned, grown, and I keep doing it. Because innovation, adaptation, and courage are non-negotiables in this online space.

Words of Wisdom

  • If something isn’t working, change it. Get the support you need, reach out, pivot. Don’t wait for “perfect.”

  • Stay in your lane. Be confident. Be unapologetic in your approach. Your conviction is powerful.

  • Be brave. The discomfort. The “failures.” The unknown. Lean into them. Because every stretch, every misstep, every leap, that’s where growth lives.

Take a moment to reflect. Are you using your support? Are you moving at a pace you can sustain? Owning your business? Taking initiative? Leaning into discomfort? If yes, you’re building the foundation for something meaningful.
